I’m a lucky guy. The job here at R&C has given me many chances to talk face-to-face with some of my heroes in the world of hot rodding. After all these years it’s still an amazing experience to hear what these legends have to say.
If you had that chance, who would you want to talk to and what would you ask them?
Jonnie King has been a professional radio broadcaster for more than 40 years and a hot rod enthusiast probably since before his voice changed as a kid. He’s also been able to meet and interview numerous hot rod pioneers. Now, he’s letting you listen in on some of those conversations.
The “Legends Of The Rod & Custom Hall Of Fame" series is an on-line radio program created by Jonnie in cooperation with the Darryl Starbird National Rod & Custom Hall of Fame and Museum. Darryl Starbird, Gene Winfield, George Barris, Norm Grabowski, Dennis McPhail, and John D’Agostino are a few of the famous rodders telling the personal stories of their cars and careers. My favorite is Spence Murray talking about the origins of Rod & Custom magazine. I never get tired of listening to that.
You can listen too. Just go to www.legends.thewwbc.net on the Internet. The “Legends Of The Rod & Custom Hall Of Fame" series is also available on CD, so that you can listen whenever you want, or give them as away as gifts. Sooner or later, these hot rod heroes won’t be around to talk to, and these CDs will be a memento I’ll be glad to have.
