Tennessee Bill Moves Forward

The Tennessee State Senate has approved legislation to create a vehicle registration and titling classification for custom vehicles.  The House version of the bill is still currently pending in the House Transportation Committee and needs to be considered quickly in order to move for final approval.  Both bills define a custom-built car as a vehicle that is built for private use and is not constructed by a licensed manufacturer or remanufacturer.  Under the bill, kit cars and replica vehicles will be assigned a certificate of title bearing the same model year designation as the production vehicle it most closely resembles. 

We Urge You to Contact Members of the Tennessee House Transportation Committee (List Below) Immediately to Request Support for H.B. 2814

• H.B. 2814 provides a specific registration/titling class for customs, including kits and replicas.

• H.B. 2814 provides that a replica vehicle will be assigned a certificate of title bearing the same model year designation as the production vehicle it most closely resembles.
