Here's My Beef

"You Might As Well Be A Vegetarian" or "A Fork In The Road" or "Street Is Meat"

I had dinner with an old friend recently at a fancy high-dollar steakhouse in town. I had a ribeye, he had a filet. About 30 minutes after the steaks came, he eaten all the rolls and his baked potato, but still hadn’t stuck his knife into the meat. I said to him, “That steak’s gotta be ice cold by now. Aren’t you going to eat that thing?” His eyes got wide as he looked at me. “That’s a $25 piece of meat,” he said, shaking his head. “Do you really expect me to cut it up and eat it?!”

Alright, so I made up that story. Pretty crazy, huh?

But what if it wasn’t a steak? What if it was a hot rod or a custom car, built to the hilt with a high-horsepower engine, performance suspension, comfortable interior, and knockout paint? And what if my old friend was the owner of that car, and didn’t dare drive it because it was too nice, or too expensive, or any of 100 other reasons for not enjoying it the way it was intended to be enjoyed?

Now it’s a true story. Still crazy though.
