It's Sunday night and I'm emptying out my wallet after the weekend car show. It’s stuffed to overflowing. Not with money (no kidding), but with a weekend's accumulation of car show leftovers. Business cards of people I met. Gas and motel receipts. Sweaty scraps of paper with notes about cars I don’t want to forget and phone numbers of owners I need to call. And a string of tickets for the big fundraiser raffle I forgot to go to because I was too busy taking photos. Who knows how many times I’ve come home with the winning ticket—while somebody else goes home with the car polish kit or the set of spark plugs or the big bag of cash that should have been mine.
Almost all local club-sponsored car shows have some sort of charity fundraising purpose behind them. The club members who organize and promote the shows usually don’t keep a dime. Instead, they hand the proceeds to a local charity. Sometimes they raise a ton of money. Sometimes they raise just a little bit of money. But every dollar helps. So here’s a little public service announcement from RCTimB reminding you to pry a couple of dollars out of your wallet and support those good causes whenever you can.
