While a stainless steel exhaust is very nice, especially on a car where it'll be seen, our Chevy is so low to the ground that's not an issue, plus it was easier to fabricate the system using mild steel tubing. This does mean it required a protective coating if we didn't want it to rust - this will be a driver after all - and a quick rattle can high-temp coating wasn't an option.
We entrusted the exhaust system to Embee Performance, who ceramic coated it and turned the job around in three days. It looks great, will stay cooler thanks to the thermal barrier properties of the coating, and is now protected from the elements. With a background in the aerospace and oil industries, Embee offers ceramic coating in numerous colors, as well as powder coating, anodizing, chrome and cadmium plating.
