Situated in north San Diego County, about 30 miles inland, Escondido's Grand Avenue hosts a weekly cruise night throughout the summer months. Officially sanctioned, with DJs, bands and raffles taking place alongside the cars cruising and parked up, Grand Avenue's restaurants, bars and antique stores get busy from mid afternoon as cars arrive from Orange County to the north and San Diego to the south.
There are even special nights when one of the side streets is lined with front engined Fuellers which perform a cacklefest - always fun to watch as the unsuspecting public aren't used to nitro fumes! - or A/FX cars. Every Friday's a good time though, so if you're in the area prior to September, make it a point to visit.
